Ode to a green band

Mottled cream wax candlestick—your muted LED flickers make ordinary artifact holy. Halos and hiccups of chiaroscuro weave an interactive spume over numinous mementos. Overtones and undertones of history and wish pinball off each other. Meanings rupture. Morph. Dimly lit relics mellow into wordless wisdom.

Glisten humpback
Buffalo. Let stone
hooves tattoo a wish
to rejoin friends, blown
away from years
of closeness by divorce’s
shock-waves. Acorns culled
from Lennon’s Imagine
peace mosaic in New York’s
Central Park and Inca grave
figurines from Peru allow
memory to un-smolder.
Parted friends to recluster.
